This post is very late...opps! We have been busy and frankly I haven't had too much energy to write about anything else not related to the babies. I promise though that the blog won't come completely about them, because we still do have a life.
On July 3rd, we went with our good friends, Nathan and Christan and their mom, Fran to the annual Antietam Battlefield Fireworks. Tim had been many times but this was my first time. We hadn't had anything planned, since we weren't sure how I would feel, especially int he heat, but Friday night at softball, Nate invited us to go.
Saturday morning we just decided to pack it up and join them and I am so glad we did. It was good for me to get out of the house, and it wasn't too much of a hot day as there was a constant breeze and no humidity. I had never been (I'm ashamed to say) to Antietam. I have been to Gettysburg hundreds of times, but never to Antietam. So, I was excited but also a little nervous to be in a crowd with thousands of people not being able to get to a restroom when needed. Of course I took my zofran and had plenty of water, shade, sunscreen, bug spray and food (when I felt like eating).
Fran and I got dropped off with Christan and Nate and Tim went to park the cars. We carried a few things and left the rest for the boys. We then found a great spot nice and close, since it was still early, not a whole lot of people had trickled in yet. I was so surprised to see all the tarps and blankets marked out for people's "areas". You are allowed to mark your area at 6am in the morning and man did a lot of people do that.

People can set up their marked tarps at 6:00AM!

It begun to fill up quickly!
It began to fill up quickly and we just enjoyed each other's company, talked and laughed a lot. We made comments about the amount of stuff people would bring in for only a few hours because at 7pm, everything had to come down, no tents, no tarps, no umbrellas, just chairs and people. The elaborate set up of some people made me think they were here to camp for the weekend.

Nate loves his wine!
There was plenty of good wine and ICE COLD beer which I wanted so badly but only had two little sips the whole day. It was a perfect day to have a nice glass of wine or a beer, but I resorted to water and Gatorade. We had some good food too!

The Maryland National Symphony started promptly at 7pm, and they were so good. I love listening to live orchestras. It brings back all my memories of playing in orchestras since I was little. I miss it a lot and it is something I hold close to my heart. Maybe one day I'll make it back into one, but not anytime soon. Now, I just play by myself, alone, normally when I am really upset or mad, it calms me right down. The symphony played all the traditional Independence Day songs and had a huge sing-along which I thought was fun too! They also played a song for all the Armed Forces and people from each branch could stand up, it was so wonderful. I felt so honored to be surrounded by so many men and women who served our country and were the reason why we could sit here and enjoy this lovely evening.

Switched my settings are got really cool fiery shots!
The fireworks were literally one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. I couldn't believe how long they lasted and how well they were put on.
We had such a great time!!!!!! I am so glad Nate invited us. I don't know if we will make it back next year since the babies will be only five or six months old, but we will make it back sometime!
