A Little MIA

I know, I know...I've been a bad blogger.

Oh well.

At the end of the day, does it really matter?

Nope, it sure doesn't. And really, I don't care too much.

We have been, well, sick...

That's right. All the girls and Daddy have had Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. Also, known as pure hell. Just ask Tim. Or me, since I have been the one taking care of everyone.

Survival mode.

Apparently it's going around the schools here like wildfire!

It started with Claire last Saturday night. I cam home from a long day of being out just with Emily and picking Megan up from the airport. When I saw Claire, she just didn't look right. I went to hug her and instantly I knew she had a fever. 103.7 in fact.

Lovely.

Then the mouth sores. Horrible mouth sores. Inside and out. Up the nose. In the ears. Feet and Hands.

I did some research and found out that it was Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. Yuck. Kinda like chicken pox in the way it comes on. Fever first , then the sores. Lasts up to two weeks. No appetite and burning, itchy, red sores that blister. NASTY.

My poor babies had it sooo bad. Claire was miserable. Then Wednesday Madelynn and Natalee came down with fevers, as I knew even as hard as I tried to keep them all separate, it wouldn't work.

These photos were on Monday, so it got much, much, much worse, but I never had a moment to pick up my camera:

It was also Tim's birthday on Wednesday. He said he wasn't feeling well but went to play golf anyway. We shaved his head before he left. He came home around 6:45 and still wasn't feeling well. I prayed he wasn't going to get it, but when his Mom hugged him and said he was burning up, I knew he had it to. Yup, 103! This began his miserable time of Hand, Foot and Mouth.

His hands, feet, legs, nose, and ears all covered and yet that wasn't the worst part. His head, his ENTIRE HEAD was covered in over hundred open sores. I'm guessing shaving his head had something to do with it. I have never in my life seen anything so bad. The itching. The constant throbbing of burning sensations. He could barely walk. He kept his feet and hands on ice because it was that bad. Numbing the pain was the best resort.

I then watched helplessly as each of the girls suffered each day and Tim too. All you can do is  give tylenol and benadryl. They would fight each other because each of them wanted to be held and not be near the other one. It was miserable. They just cried. They didn't want to walk or eat. Natalee still on Sunday and yesterday refused to walk on the hard wood floors or tile, only the carpet. Poor baby. Their noses have all the sores in them too. I hate watching them suffer.

SO we watched a lot of Barney, snuggled and cried. Took tylenol, napped, and loved on each other. All you can do when your babies are sick.

I still cannot believe Em or I didn't get it! Praise God!!

And all of this was happening on a week when Aunt Megan was here from NM and I was helping with her bridal shower. (That post will be written later!)

So, thankfully, we are on the mend. The only thing I had happen to me was that I got stung by a bee twice on my knee on Sunday morning! Not good, but I'll take that over the hell everyone else went through.

{ LOTS of posts coming...stay tuned!!!!!! }
