Here are a few things that I have found I cannot live without while raising triplets during the past FOUR months:
Boppys - My girls love their boppys! They used to sleep in them almost every night and love to lay on their tummies in them too! It's a great and safe place to put them down when I need a second...or two!
Swaddle Me/Kiddopotamus - These put my girls instantly to sleep. Best invention ever, and I actually thought I might never use them after I received them as a gift. Every night we wrap them up to be little pea-pods and they are out like a light.
Moby Wrap or Kangaroo Pouch - I received the Moby Wrap from a good friend and I was really confused at what the heck to do with it. I have never seen so much fabric that your supposed to wrap all around your body...weird and I thought I would sweat to death. But when I finally figured it out and stuck one or two of the girls in there, we all were so happy! I absolutely LOVE it now! It can also give you a great workout! I wear it with one of the girls while walking the neighborhood with my Mom, an easy way to carry extra weight and everyone is happy!
White Noise and Lulluby Machine - Helps drain out noise and make sleep inviting! Hello, what's better than that!? We have this one, it's small, compact and I love it!
A Good Binki - Find a binki that works; we stuck with the ones the girls got used to in the NICU. A binki can buy you some time while feeding another baby or just while you have your hands full. I really think the binkis help me out a lot, especially since I'm by myself a lot of the time. However, I saw on another blog that I love, these Wubbanub's and I think that's an awesome idea for multiples and I ordered the one's that go with the GumDrop binkis for the girls. That way there is no confusing whose binki is whose and when they get bigger they can recognize theirs and hopefully learn to not put their sister's in eachother's mouths...yeah, right but we shall see!
A schedule - Everyone who knows me, knows I love lists, organization, structure and schedules. I cannot live without any of it and it is a must when you have multiples!
Of course an organized, well-prepared, clean household and a great hubby helps too! I wouldn't make it a day without my husband. He does it all! Cooks, cleans, changes the dirtiest diapers, anything I ask....he is wonderful and I am so incredibly lucky to have him by my side! Plus, when I am screaming at the top of my lungs, crying, holding two babies while trying to make dinner...he always has the right things to say!
And when people say you must have help with multiples...I say, no you don't! Yes, it would be wonderful, let me say again, wonderful, but no one is here helping me all day long. I do it all by myself and yes, don't get me wrong, I would never turn away anyone willing to help, but it taking care of multiples can be done with one person, and one person only. When you don't have a choice, you have to make a way. I firmly believe God did not give me anything I couldn't handle myself! I thank God everyday for the strenght to make each day better than the next and to enjoy each and every single moment with these beautiful miracle baby girls!
Also, something interesting I found was that Huggies diapers were terrible in Preemie and Newborn size but I love them in Size 1 so far! Pampers rocked in Preemie and Newborn size though! Our NICU used only Pampers, but because of all the generosity of others, we have a mixture of different diaper brands and it's been neat to see what works and what doesn't, what falls a part, what leaks, what holds it all in...
Just my opinions here, but I hope it can help someone!
Those are great must haves for any number of babies!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work super mom!!
You seriously need to help my SIL out. And I don't mean that in a negative way towards her at all. But she has two month old twins and she has yet to be by herself with them. She freaks out when my SIL or MIL leave her alone....with her own children. She has never had to feed them alone or change their diapers alone. This just blows my mind. She will have to learn eventually right? It sounds like you are a wonderful Momma and you're girls are blessed to be your daughters!
