The Girl's First Halloween Weekend!

On Halloween weekend, we had a very rare nor-easter which gave us about 3 inches of snow! There were many places just north and west of us that got much, much more! It was so weird to watch the flakes fall all day long on Saturday with leaves still on the trees and pumpkins out on front porches! I LOVED it and even wore my Christmas socks all day long! (You have to remember, I missed almost all of Christmas last year so, I am super excited for this year, along with it being the girls first (technically second; they were only 48 hours old last year) Christmas!) Much of the snow melted on Sunday, but I snapped these photos of some of our pumpkins with snow on them! So strange seeing snow on pumpkins here in Maryland (the last time we saw snow in October we only had .3 of an inch in 1979)!

On Sunday, I bundled Natalee up to come with me to get some groceries and since it was so cold, I bundled her up and well, she didn't really know what to think...but darn, did that little girl look so cute!

When I got home, my sister painted my belly, which was a lot of fun! We meant to do it last year, and for some reason we didn't, but this year, I wasn't going to let it pass by! She did a great job and I was so glad we did it! Thanks, Christine! The girls thought my belly was so funny and kept trying to touch it and grab at my skin.

Before the girls went to bed, we played around and took some photos with my belly, since obviously I was going to shower! (I know I posted some of these already, I just wanted it all in one post!)

I love this one! Everyday, Madelynn seems to find a toy and it becomes "hers" for the day...some days it's this pink bath duck, some days it's this certain rattle and other days it's this fish, that she is holding in this photo. She will not let go of "her" toy and if I pull it away, she throws a fit, throwing herself back and kicking her legs and all! She is so funny!

I couldn't wait to wake-up on Monday and put the girl's in their costumes! (Ok, I did wait until after naptime!) After naptime we put the girls in their Little Lady Bug costumes and walked over to my parent's house. It's been a tradition in our family since my sister and I were young, that we always have my mom's home-made chili and corn-bread on Halloween, so this year was no different! We went to a few of our family friends and neighbors houses and ventured back home to give out candy too! (I LOVE giving out candy!) Last year we had SO many trick-or-treaters, and this hardly any, maybe 50 or so. I must say that I get really annoyed at the grown ADULTS with NO costumes on that trick-or-treat at my house. I really want to say, "give me a break! I don't think so" and slam the door, but of course I don't, and I just give out one SINGLE piece to them! What the heck, even the teenagers with no costumes...ugh, just so annoying. One year I might get brave enough to shut the door nicely but I don't want my tires slashed, pumpkins smashed or house egged, so for now, I give out the single piece of candy to the grown adults and teens with no costumes!

So here were are getting ready to go to Grammy and Grandpa's house:

And finally going to a few neighbors houses:

And once we got home, Claire and Madelynn had enough and were so ready for bed. They are fighting teething and little colds, so they were very unhappy and shouldn't have been more done with Halloween. We stripped them down, got pj's on, diapers changed, lovies and binkis and they were asleep within five minutes of getting in their beds. Poor little girls. (We have had some tough nights lately with teething and horrible stuffed noses!)

Natalee had taken a cat nap on Daddy's chest while we were at my parent's house, so she was so not ready for bed and preferred to help Mommy give out candy! I took the opportunity to get some photos of her but she actually was ready for bed before long too!!

I plan on taking some more of the girls all together outside in the leaves when they are feeling better. I was going to do it today of course, but they are not feeling well and either am I, so I'll wait to get some better ones of all of them!

All and all, it was a great first Halloween weekend as a family of 5 1/2!
